OUTLINE

Kloodle is designed to be a student-led platform which introduces students to a wide range of employer organisations, allows students to “follow” organisations’ news and learn about their industry sectors. In addition, Kloodle facilitates communication and interaction between employment providers and students, in the context of both general engagement / learning about the organisation and in the context of promoting specific career opportunities.

Kloodle’s mission is to continue to work towards raising students’ future career aspirations and to continue to provide a solution to bridge the gap between education and employers with regard to the current skills shortage.

The safeguarding of children is everyone’s responsibility. The purpose of the Kloodle Employment Provider Code of Practice is to provide guidance for Employment Providers whenever they are using Kloodle. Kloodle operates a child-centred and coordinated approach to safeguarding. Partner schools, college and employment providers must recognise their responsibility in promoting safe on-line behaviour and adhere to Kloodle’s safeguarding policy at all times.

This document is intended to outline best practice with regards to engaging with users and is intended to be used as a formal safeguarding guideline to support Employment Providers. It should be used in conjunction with organisation’s related codes of conduct and operational procedures relating to recruitment and student / entry level talent liaison.

According to HM Government, a child is recognised as anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday. The situation is more complex for teenage students who have reached the age of 18 whilst still attending a college. For this category, 18 year olds should still be treated as ‘children’ under safeguarding policies.

For the purpose of this document, ‘institution’ refers to any educational establishment where Kloodle is used by children. This includes schools, sixth form colleges and Further Education providers. ‘Employment Provider’ refers to employer related organisations, apprenticeship providers and other training providers that offer post-education career / work related opportunities via Kloodle.

A reminder that:

  • all institutions sign and agree to Kloodle’s Terms and Policies of Use, including full understanding of and compliance with our Data Protection Policy and Service Level Agreement;
  • each institution is responsible for ensuring safe on-line behaviour and communication in line with individual institution’s e-safety and safeguarding policies and procedures;
  • institutions are responsible for setting users’ privacy levels;
  • all institutions agree to adhere to Kloodle’s Safeguarding Policy, which is designed to protect all users and promote safe on-line behaviours.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYMENT PROVIDER USERS

Kloodle takes all reasonable steps to protect all users and reduce any potential misuse. In order to comply with Kloodle’s Safeguarding Policy, Employment Providers are required to agree to and sign this “Employment Provider Code of Practice” document prior to using the site (for the purpose of posting or updating opportunities or interacting with users).

Employment Providers will be expected to:

  • identify a named person(s) who will be responsible for interacting with users;
  • only share information provided by users for recruitment and other appropriate social network purposes (sharing organisation news, promoting student work placement / experience opportunities, etc);
  • at all times, act in accordance with their organisation’s own related codes of conduct and operational procedures relating to recruitment and student / entry level talent liaison.

INCIDENT RESPONSE PROCESS (EMPLOYMENT PROVIDER USER)

On-line safety is central to the relationship that we build between users and Employment Providers. In the event that institutions raise safeguarding concerns regarding Student, Staff, Admin or Employment Provider use, Kloodle will take any concerns seriously and initiate an Incident Response Process (IRP). The IRP is designed to quickly assess and act on any such concern. Equally, in the event that any person acting on behalf of an Employment Provider receives any communication from a student user that is considered to be inappropriate, offensive or raises any concerns, it is the Employment Provider’s responsibility to immediately cease contact with the user and to inform Kloodle of the nature of the correspondence. In this instance, an IRP will also be initiated.

If the concern raised involves Employment Provider misuse, Kloodle will immediately suspend the related employer account until investigations have been concluded. If the misuse contravenes Kloodle’s Safeguarding Policy or Employment Provider Code of Practice, Kloodle may be duty bound to seek appropriate formal intervention.

Kloodle reserves the right to suspend or terminate any accounts in order to protect its full range of social stakeholder communities.

At our earliest knowledge of any raised concern, Kloodle will immediately:

  • request an accurate and detailed typed outline of the concern by the institution’s designated Admin;
  • request a copy of the institution’s e-safety and safeguarding policy.

If the concern raised involves Employment Provider misuse, Kloodle will immediately suspend any accounts that are involved in the IRP until investigations are concluded. If the misuse contravenes Kloodle’s Safeguarding Policy or Employment Provider Code of Practice, we may have a duty to seek police intervention. Kloodle has the right to suspend or terminate any accounts if other users’ safety is compromised.

Kloodle has the right to:

  • suspend any account that is involved in an IRP;
  • terminate any account that is deemed to contain content that is offensive, derisory to others or incites violence of any kind (including terrorism), without any licence refund;
  • seek formal intervention if deemed necessary. In the unlikely event that Kloodle’s initial IRP raises concerns of a serious safeguarding nature, then police contact may be made in order to ensure user protection.

  • We understand that should it be deemed that inappropriate communication has taken place between Employment Providers and users (through Kloodle’s subsequent investigation –IRP), Kloodle has the right to suspend and / or terminate an account, without any licence refund;
